Any citizen of the State of New Jersey may nominate an individual, living or deceased, to be considered for induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
Eligibility:
Nominees must have resided in New Jersey for at least five years and have a significant association with the state.
Categories:
The New Jersey Hall of Fame prides itself on being as inclusive as possible to showcase New Jersey’s greatest. To that end, we have selected five categories that would incorporate various fields of expertise. The following are general descriptions of each category:
- The Enterprise Category includes such occupations as business leaders, scientists, inventors, technology/computer science, medical fields such as doctors, nurses, medical advancements, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, researchers, etc.
- The Sports Category includes athletes, coaches and others in the field of sports.
- The Arts & Entertainment Category encompasses actors and actresses, various film occupations such as directors, screenwriters, cinematography, musicians & song writers, artists, writers, poets, dancers, sculptors, etc.
- The General Category includes such genres as educators, religious leaders, politicians, civil servants, scholars, humanitarians, and others not falling into a specific category.
- Finally, The Historical Category is only for deceased New Jerseyans and can incorporate any of the above fields. Nominees in this category have made contributions that transcend any one category.
